Our Mission

The mission of the Houston Shoulder to Shoulder Foundation, in alliance with the Health Committee of Santa Ana, Honduras, is to improve health and the provision of health services for under-served people in the area of Santa Ana, Intibuca, Honduras, to promote self sufficiency at a grass roots level, and to educate undergraduates, medical students, residents, and faculty of the ongoing healthcare needs and daily challenges faced by people in rural, resource-poor areas.

We seek to improve health and promote self-sufficiency for the people of Santa Ana and the surrounding area by enhancing clinical healthcare services.

Our brigades educate medical students and professionals about the healthcare needs and daily challenges faced by people in resource-poor areas, and also provide an opportunity to be a part of the solution to address such needs and challenges

We support local efforts to improve infrastructure by developing projects to improve public health. Our volunteers have helped construct latrines, refurbish local schools and provide health education among other projects.
